Faculty:
Please announce to your undergraduate (post-calculus) classes:
The Mathematics Department will hold its annual William Bennett
LINEAR ALGEBRA COMPETITION next week, on Tuesday, Dec 7, 2021.
The questions will be difficult but drawn from the material that is
presented in both M341 and M340L. Participation will be limited to
students who are in one of those courses now or who completed them
in Spring or Summer of 2021. (That is, more advanced students are
not eligible.)
First prize will be $300, second prize $200, third prize $100.
This year the competition will return to its in-person format:
the exam will be given in PMA 5.114 next Tuesday, Dec 7, 12:30-2:30pm.
Please observe that this is during the no-class days, after classes
have ended and before finals have begun.
No sign-up is necessary.
Last year's questions (with solutions) are posted outside the Math
Department offices.
For further information please contact Dave Rusin in PMA 9.140
