P. Holicky, M. Zahradnik Stratified Low Temperature Phases of Stratified Spin Models: A general Pirogov - Sinai Approach (293K, AmsTex) ABSTRACT. This is a new (Aug 97) variant of the preprint No. 96/301. We develop a general and unifying approach to the study of low temperature "stratified" (with possibly many rigid interfaces of Dobrushin type) phases for a wide class of classical spin models. Our main result transcripts the question of characterizing the stratified Gibbs states of the model to the question of finding the ground states of some auxiliary one dimensional model with quickly decaying interactions.
