This interdisciplinary center is funded by
the Simons Foundation,
the Department of Mathematics of UT Austin,
the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of UT Austin,
through the  Math+X Simons Chair created in September 2012 at The University of Texas at Austin.

The focus is on the development of mathematical tools for the analysis of large networks.

The main mathematical interests of the members of the center are in probability and statistics, combinatorics, graph theory, information theory, dynamical systems, control theory, geometry (in particular stochastic geometry), algebraic structures (in particular tropical algebras).

The main application domains are in computer and communication sciences, physics, social sciences, biology, neurosciences, and in several branches of engineering: wireless communications, transportation networks, and power grids. The center has strong ties with the Wireless, Networking and Communications Group.
