CONTENT ======= Text formats and file types (see below) Guide for Plain Text Math (see below) ####################################################### TEXT FORMATS AND FILE TYPES =========================== HOMEWORK and EXAM solutions have to be submitted without graphics, in one of the formats: Plain Text (extension .txt) OpenDocument Text (extension .odt) Rich Text (extension .rtf) Office Open XML (extension .docx) Reasons: (R1) content can be viewed/edited easily on most computing platforms (R2) lines (with scores or comments) can be inserted by a grader (R3) txt can be pasted into an email or text message, e.g. in a discussion (R4) file sizes are reasonably small Please put your name near the beginning of the file. ####################################################### GUIDE FOR PLAIN TEXT (txt) MATH =============================== Plain Text is the preferred format. It is simple to type Math in a readable way. General ------- (G1) Use long "horizontal rules" to separate problems etc. (G2) Such rules are lines of "####" or "====" or "----" (G3) Use similar/shorter rules to underline titles etc. (G4) Use labels like "(G4)" for statements that need to be referred to. (G5) Avoid symbols when words can be used! (G6) Use parentheses to avoid ambiguous mathematical expressions.
