I. Review any reading or exercises from Monday not yet discussed in class.
II. Read pp. 632 - top of p. 644.
- This reading expands on the introduction to regression in
Chapter 2, adding new considerations. What we do next will depend
heavily on what is in this reading assignment.
- Be sure to study the text and diagrams on pp. 634 - 635 to understand what they are picturing.
- The Caution on p. 636 is important in many uses of statistics.
- Be sure to identify all the assumptions in the Simple Linear Regression Model in the box on p. 638.
- Note also the Cautions on pp. 640 and 642.
III. Do the following exercises to reinforce reading and for possible class discussion: #10.3 (a), 10.9 (a) - (b), 10.16.
IV. Hand in: #8.48 (p. 569 - 570), 8.70 (p. 575), 8.72 (p. 575), #9.4 (a) and (c) (p. 613),
#9.6 (p. 613), 9.10 (p. 614)
