- A nice discussion of the gradient, divergence, and curl in curvilinear coordinates is given here, and a summary for cylindrical and spherical coordinates is here. In addition, it is often much easier to derive identities involving these differential operators using a little bit of tensor calculus and index notation, as discussed here and here. Understanding how to apply these concepts will be particularly useful to those intending to take an advanced course in electromagnetics or fluid dynamics.
