Introducing: Dr. Fernando Rodriguez Villegas from the department of Mathematics here at UT.

Over 150 people showed up to learn about logarithms, and what they have to do with the behavior of random numbers.

Dr. Villegas started with an introduction to logarithms, and how they transform multiplication problems into addition problems.

He talked about how the logarithmic scale helped Kepler discover his Third Law of planetary motion.

He then showed us a "Virtual Slide Rule" and demonstrated how the slide rule works.

Break time...

A student writes down a string of "random" digits. Are these digits truly random, or are they human-generated?
