	SMMG – January 2024 Date: January 28th, 2024 Time: 12pm-2pm Location: PMA 5.104 Speaker: Zehua Lai Title: Combinatorial Game Theory Abstract: In this talk, we will discuss two famous games "Nim" and "Hex". We will try to find the winning strategy of the two games and touch on the basics of combinatorial game theory.

	SMMG – Feburary 2024 Date: Feburary 11th, 2024 Time: 12pm-2pm Location: PMA 5.104 Speaker: Audrick Pyronneau Title: A Walk Around Königsberg Abstract: Topology is a field of math continuously changing. Just as aspects of our personality stay the same throughout continuous change, so do certain properties of space. We look into the continuous change of space to give us insight into the fundamental properties of space. Then maybe we can finally understand why Topologists drink coffee out of donuts... 	SMMG – Feburary 2024 Date: Feburary 25th, 2024 Time: 12pm-2pm Location: PMA 5.104 Speaker: Aru Mukherjea Title: Fractals and the Coastline Paradox Abstract: What do river systems, lightning strikes, snowflakes, and cauliflowers have in common? They're examples of fractals, shapes that remain complicated however closely you zoom in. Join us as we explore their strange and counterintuitive properties, and find out along the way why measuring coastlines is surprisingly hard.
	SMMG – March 2024 Date: March 24th, 2024 Time: 12pm-2pm Location: PMA 5.104 Speaker: Shreev Goyal Title: Visualizing Mathematical Proofs Abstract: A picture is worth a thousand equations. Math is a beautiful blend of simplicity, complexity, and sometimes a whole bunch of numbers. But oftentimes we don't need huge equations to articulate a point, rather just a picture to explain our thinking. Join me in a journey where we navigate the world of mathematics through the lens of visual understanding, transforming abstract numbers into comprehensible art.
	SMMG – April 2024 Date: April 7th, 2024 Time: 12pm-2pm Location: PMA 5.104 Speaker: Jeffrey Cheng Title: Riemann Rearrangement Theorem, and the dangers of infinity Abstract: "Divergent series are something terrible, and it is a shame to base any proof on them. We can prove anything by using them, and they have cause so much misery and created so many paradoxes..."-Abel In this session of SMMG, we will talk about infinite series! Come to find out how to add up an infinite amount of numbers, and why, if we aren't careful, we can use this to prove anything we want, like 1=2!
	SMMG – April 2024 Date: April 21th, 2024 Time: 12pm-2pm Location: PMA 5.104 Speaker: Martha Hartt Title: Dynamical Systems and Topological Transitivity Abstract: A Dynamical System is a way to model how things can change over time. As we know, some things are very predictable over time, and other things are more erratic. In this session, we will investigate how it may be tricky to predict how dynamical systems behave after long periods of time, and use games to unpack what it means for a system to be "Topologically Transitive"
