Here are some objects

Ruled Surface Thing

This thing is made out of wood, glue, string, and eyehooks. The top is able to turn, and the ruled surface sketched out by the string transforms continuously from being a cylinder, to a hyperboloid of one sheet, to a double cone. To the left, we see it as a double cone.

Here it is as a hyperboloid. It looks pretty cool when there's a light shined on it and you get the cross hatch pattern in the shadow.
Here it is as a cylinder. Unfortunately, the yarn isn't as elastic as I hoped, and the cylinder is a little wobbly looking (because the total distance between eyehooks is smaller).
Backgammon Table

It is in fact disingenious to call this a table. It is just a painted piece of wood that I put on top of a table. It has a drawing of a backgammon board, with the twist that it was entirely drawn with a straitedge and compass. The lines from the straightedge/compass constructions are also painted on the table.

In fact, I didn't really make the lines/arcs with a straightedge and a compass, but I could have, if I was really accurate with a straitedge and compass.

Some day I will have a better picture.
