The exam on Feb 16 will cover the following sections: 1.1 (yes, you will see some direction fields on the exam), 1.2) linear equations with constant coefficients, initial value problems, 1.3)linear and non-linear ODE's, 2.1) integrating factors for a linear ODE, 2.2) separable equations 2.3) tanks etc, 2.5) Autonomous equations, equilibrium points, stability and instability, applications, linearization (not in book), bifurcation diagrams page 93 25-27, 2.9) linear difference equations, fixed points, stability and instability. 3.1) homogeneous equations with constant coefficients 3.3) linear dependence and independence. There will be an extra credit problem (or two) on the exam. These are usually difficult! If it works out the way I want it to, the exam itself will not be difficult.
