Research Experience for Undergraduates
The Research Experience for Undergraduates program (REU) is a nationwide program funded by the NSF, where undergraduate students can spend a summer at a university doing original mathematical research. In some cases this research can even lead to a publication, and in all cases the research experience strengthens a resume for a PhD in math.
A list of REU programs can be found at this NSF website. Applications are usually due early in the Spring semester, but the date varies by program.
The DRP is in no way affiliated with any specific REU program. However, we encourage all our participating students to consider applying. Your DRP mentor may well have participated in an REU as an undergrad, and likely has advice about building a strong application.
