FIRST ASSIGNMENT


Part I: To be completed by Friday, January 23

    1. Buy a copy of the textbook

    2. Look it over and pick out some proofs that you’d like to do.

        » Suggestions for good ones to start with: pp. 3, 4, 6, 7, 19, 20, 49, 50, 69, 70, 71

    3. Use Blackboard's email function to divide yourself into pairs, with each pair selecting a proof to lead the class in next time.

            » Be sure to copy me on your emails so I can join in if difficulties arise, and so I know what the final choices of partners and proofs are.

Part II: Work with your partner to prepare to lead the class in your selected proof next week (January 27).

       » Be sure to pay attention to the Guidelines for Preparing and Presenting Proofs and the Grading Rubric

Note: You will work in pairs only on the first round of proofs; after that, everyone will go solo.
