Program Information

This is a two-week program on topics in Analysis, PDE's and Mathematical Physics for advanced undergraduate and beginning graduate students.
  • Every week will contain 2 short courses in the mornings, each consisting of 5 one-hour lectures. The lectures will be complemented by tutorial sessions in the afternoons conducted by postdoctoral scholars and advanced graduate students from the University of Texas.
The prerequisites for the course are advanced calculus, linear algebra and undergraduate partial differential equations.

For detailed application information, please see below. The students from Portugal should contact Diogo Gomes (dgomes@math.ist.ut.pt) for applying for funding under the UT Austin/Portugal (CoLab) program.

Organizers: Irene Gamba, Luis Caffarelli, Natasa Pavlovic, and Thomas Chen.

Thanks: Lizanne McClenon for most valuable help.

Travel and Accommodation

Financial support (in the form of on-campus accommodations, daily meal allowance and a partial travel support) is restricted to U.S. citizens/permanent residents attending from out of town. However, applications from international students are welcome. But international students must provide their own support for travel, accommodations and meals. Our students from Portugal will be supported through the Research and Collaboration Agreement between the Portuguese Science and Technology Foundation (FCT) and the University of Texas.

Application for students in the U.S.

This two-week program is for advanced undergraduates and beginning graduate students. The application must include:
  1. An application form (please print and fill out completely)
  2. A transcript
  3. Two letters of recommendation.
The deadline for application has been extended to June 12, 2011. Financial support can only be offered to U.S. citizens or permanent residents.

Applications should be sent to:

Prof. Thomas Chen, Department of Mathematics, University of Texas at Austin, 1 University Station C1200, Austin TX 78712.

Application for students in Portugal

The CoLab participants from Portugal should contact:

Prof. Diogo Aguiar Gomes (dgomes@math.ist.utl.pt).

For questions regarding travel and accommodation, please contact:
Mrs. Lizanne McClenon, MA (mcclenon@math.utexas.edu).
